FREEDOM WITH RESPECT: "Help me to do it myself!"

What is the most important factor in our work?  Quite simply, we love children!

All our practitioners have chosen to work with us because they care passionately about children as precious and unique individuals and believe that a Montessori education is the best way of encouraging each child to grow into their full potential.  You will find that each practitioner loves to see the children in their care develop day by day and delights in every achievement.

Observation of the child, as she or he follows their own special pattern of development, is key to individualised learning.  All our practitioners are trained in observation techniques, which are used as the basis for individualised planning.

However, a central tenet of the Montessori approach is “freedom with respect” and therefore our plans are never imposed on the children.  We prefer to invite.  The way this works is that an individual child will be invited to watch a presentation of an activity just outside their “comfort zone”, to show them how to progress to their next level of competence.  If the invitation is refused, the practitioner accepts this gracefully and makes a note either to try again a little later or to get an older child to demonstrate.  Sometimes a bit of guidance from their older friends is just the stimulus a child needs!

It is up to you to choose which setting will best suit your child and you.  We pride ourselves in our combination of flexibility and organisation, which enables us to respond to your needs as well as ensuring we always maintain AT LEAST the minimum adult to child ratio (and usually better).

We keep progress records and invite parents and carers to termly progress meetings, whilst the parents’ very own Montessori File allows them to keep track of all necessary documents and school information.

Above all, we want your child to be happy and thrive in a genuinely caring environment and for you to feel secure in the knowledge that you have entrusted your daughter or son to safe hands.  The welfare of your child is of paramount importance to us.
